Mr.William Thomas "Bill" Roark, age 82, of Franklin, KY., died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:30 P.M. at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.
A native of Franklin, KY., he was the son of the late David Harris Roark and the late Mary Meguiar Roark.
He is survived by his wife Mickey Roark of 60 years; a daughter Sue Evelyn Roark Buckberry and husband William Ray of Hendersonville, TN. and a son Paul T. Roark and wife Melinda Morris Roark of Orlinda, TN.; 2 Sisters: Ann Roark Hardison of Auburn, KY. and Nancy Roark Owens of Jefferson, GA.; 5 Grandchildren: James Thomas, John Paul and Joe Willis Roark, Kelly and Sarah Buckberry; a great granddaughter Brady Jae Roark and a step- great grandson Blayne Henderson; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Roark was a cattle buyer and farmer, co-owner and president of Roark Farms, Inc., lifetime member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church where he served as a teacher, deacon, elder, Sunday School superintendent and treasurer. He was elected Father of the Year in 2002 and was part of the church mission trip to Mexico. He was member and past president of Franklin Rotary Club and Farm Bureau, 1959 Outstanding Young Farmer of Kentucky, and member of Lions Club and American Legion Post 62.
He served in the Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII.
