Virginia “Jen” Louise Newman Taylor saw the face of Jesus on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 4:25 AM at the Magnolia Village Nursing Facility in Bowling Green, KY.
Virginia was born in Adolphus, Kentucky in Allen County on July 27,1922 to the late James Crittenden Newman & the late Eula Hinton Newman. Her father died when she was 2 years old, which left a family of strong women including her "granny" and one sister, the late Lucille Newman Cline to preserver. These difficult times laid the foundation for Virginia's strong sense of hard work, dedication to those she loved, and a belief in Christian hope.
Virginia married the late Lee Taylor on Feb. 10, 1940 and they worked side by side farming in Simpson County for many years. Never having children of their own, they opened their home to nieces, relatives and friends sharing love, laughter and good food.
Virginia's kind spirit and loyalty to family and friends was a gift to us all. She loved a good joke, a visitor, and a ride in the car, ice cream and chocolate. She gladly shared her favorite banana bread and lemon torte recipes with all who asked. Family meant everything to her. Whether it was her own kin, life long friends, West Cedar Street neighbors or Franklin First United Methodist Church members, she was loyal and dedicated to them. If there was a gathering of people she wanted to be there. Virginia's twinkle radiated naturally to everyone she greeted. It is that twinkle that we will always cherish.
She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews Faye Buttermore (Martin) Lilburn, Ga.,
Ann Crabtree (John) of Gallatin, TN., Martha Mahan (Mark) of Columbus, OH., Dora Dunn (Ray) of Bowling Green, KY., Kathy Phelps (Roger) of Springfield, TN., Jeanie Shirra (Dick) of Moon Township, PA. and Sue Trepac (Tom) of Columbiana, OH., a nephew Bill Roberts of Franklin, KY. and several great nieces and nephews.
