Virginia Thompson Goins

A former Franklin, KY. resident, Mrs. Virginia Thompson Goins, age 95 of St. Johns, FL., entered into rest Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Hospice House of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville, FL.

Arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00 AM November 23, 2015 with burial to follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY.

Born November 1, 1920 in Watertown, TN. she was the daughter of the late Eli Wilson Thompson and the late Lucille Neal Thompson.  She was the wife of the late Bill B. Goins.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Luther Joe Thompson, Carolyn Slagle and Jack Thompson.

She is survived by 2 daughters Carole Barton(Steve) of Snohomish, WA. and Melinda Goins of Atlantic Beach, FL., 4 grandchildren Jonathan Barton(Karina), Mary Roth(Jeremy), Stephanie Barton and Lauren Yeakel(Jeff) and a great grandchild Ezekiel Barton.

Mrs. Goins was a member of the Franklin First Baptist Church, was a retired librarian and teacher with the Simpson County School System and a member of the Simpson County Homemakers.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Monday at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home.
