Andy Smith

Mr. Scott Andrew "Andy" Smith, age 59, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Hospice House of Southern KY in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory and will continue on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 6:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Andy was born on December 11, 1964 in Bowling Green, KY. 

He is preceded in death by a son, Alex Smith; father, Jimmy Gilmer; and two brothers, Terry Smith and Tim Gilmer.

He is survived by his son, Scott Smith (Amber), of Auburn, KY; three grandchildren, Chloe Biggs, Della Smith, and Elsie Smith; his mother, Patricia Hughes Gilmer, of Franklin, KY; one sister, Alicia Gilmer, of Franklin, KY; a long-time companion, Anita Payne Smith, of Franklin, KY; several nephews; and one niece.

Andy was a 1982 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He worked for ABC Supply/Wholesale Supply for over twenty years. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing or hunting with his boys, or simply planting sunflowers just to feed the birds. The small farm in the Stevenson community of Simpson County where Andy was raised was a special place to him, he preferred to be there regardless of work or play. He enjoyed relishing on how things used to be. He may have worked many years as a salesman, but his real passion was being a father and grandfather; he loved his family.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of Southern KY, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
