Sara Bernice Floyd

Mrs. Sara Bernice Floyd, age 81 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Monday, September 4, 2017 at 11:16 AM at the Franklin Simpson Nursing & Rehab Facility in Franklin, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2017.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Middle TN. State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN.

Mrs. Floyd was born November 1, 1936 in Mitchellville, TN. to the late Earl Edward Mayes and the late Gladys Louise Cummings Mayes.  She was the wife of the late Loma D. Floyd.  She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Self and Helen Dorris and a grandson Spenser Thomas Mayes.

She is survived by her children Debbbie Graves of Franklin, KY., George Thomas Mayes of Clarksville, TN., Loma Floyd, Jr. of Bloomington, IL. and Richard Dale Floyd of Ridge Top, TN., a sister Jo Linda Vantrease of Madison, TN. and 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mrs. Floyd was baptized in the Macedonia General Baptist Church and was a retired housekeeper.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Thursday at Gilbert Funeral Home
