Ruth Van (Gann) Strain

Mrs. Ruth Van Gann Strain, age 87 of Franklin, KY, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 6:35 am at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Ruth was born July 2, 1931 in Simpson Co., KY to the late Jesse James Gann and the late Neil Van Brawner Gann.  She was the wife of the late Robert Earl Strain.  She was preceded in death by a son Robert William Strain and 2 grandchildren Phillip Strain and David Edward “Bubba” Fleming.

She is survived by 6 children - Larry Earl Strain (Gail) of Orlinda, TN, James “Jim" Barton Strain (Patricia Flowers) of Scottsville, KY, Cyndia Leevan Tarrence (Larry) of Bowling Green, KY, Robbie Ruth Fleming of Franklin, KY, Jonell Spivey (Delmar) of Russellville, KY, Alice Mae Cook (Jimmy) of Franklin, KY, 12 grandchildren - Brian William “Pete” Strain, Joshua Alan Strain, Paul Strain, Christopher Strain (Melissa), Grace Evelyn Strain (Aaron Wilson), Cathy Dawn Cavanaugh (Alan), Jamie Renee Wallace (Eddie), Pamela Nichole Roberts (Tyler), Justin Cook (Sami Gann), Joey Cook, Rachel Tarrence, Faith Spivey, 2 step-grandchildren Isaiah Spivey and Heather Spivey, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a member of the Franklin First Church of Nazarene and was a homemaker.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, April 15, 2019 and from 6:00 am until funeral service time Tuesday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
