Robert "Bob" Stone

Mr. Robert “Bob” Stone, age 82 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:50 AM at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY.

Mr. Stone was born September 6, 1935 in Patoka, IN. to the late William Robert Stone and the late Augusta Rowena White Stone.   2 brothers Bill and Donald Stone and 2 sisters Mable Stone and Sandy Bishop preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Shelby Stone, his children Jeff Stone of Elizabethtown, KY. and Wes Stone (Jennifer) of Franklin, KY., Kip Stone of Virginia and Krista Stone of Arizona, 2 grandchildren Lindsey and Zachary Stone,  2 sisters Rowena Armstrong of Utah and Roberta Stone of Evansville, IN. a brother Paul Stone (Mary Ann) of Bowling Green, KY.

He was a former member and deacon of the Franklin First Baptist Church and 25 years later became a member of the Lake Spring Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.  He was a member of the Optimist Club, coached Babe Ruth baseball and served on the Simpson County School Board.  He was retired plastic engineer after 47 years at Potter & Brumfield and a part-time farmer.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 31, 2017 and from 6:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
