Roberta Murphy Shrewsbury

Roberta Murphy Shrewsbury, 88, passed away on December 8, 2023, with her daughter by her side.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Roberta, or “Birdie”, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Waddy, Kentucky on June 8, 1935 to Rosie Lee (Cook) Murphy and Clarence Ellis Murphy. She had seven sisters and three brothers.

Birdie is survived by her daughter, Ann(ie) Shrewsbury Fukushima, her son-in-law Dan Fukushima, and her three beloved grandchildren, Davis Fukushima, Mary Fukushima Meadors (Matt), and Hayden Fukushima. She is also survived by her sister Darlene Murphy Pulliam (Ralph) and 18 nieces and nephews.

Birdie was a devoted Christian and never failed to put others needs before her own. In an incredibly selfless act, she donated a kidney to her eldest grandchild, Davis. Her grandchildren will remember their “Gigi” for her warmth and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed, but we will see her again in Heaven.
