Robert Lee "R.L." Head

Mr. Robert Lee “R.L.”  Head, age 86, of Franklin, KY, passed away Friday February 21, 2020, at 8:25 AM at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday February 24th, 2020 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday February 23, 2020 and from 6:00 AM until service time Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Robert was born November 6, 1933 in Akron, OH to the late Sammie Lee Head and the late Dutsy Bell Morphew Head. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Janet Lee Head.

Robert is survived by his wife of 18 years; Mima Lee Head, 4 children; Duane Lee Head of Bessemer, AL, Brenda Lea Smith (Stephen) of Indianapolis, IN, Brian Lee Head (Maria Alamada) of Shelby Township, MI, Darren Lee Head (Laura Detjen) of Okinawa, Japan, 7 grandchildren; Alan Kennedy, Stephanie Kennedy, Brittany Rife, Danielle Detjen, Brandon Head, Ryan Head, Dakota Smith, 6 great grandchildren.

Robert was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ and Manager of Dust Tex for 40 years. Robert was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Southern KY Scottish Society, and was a former deacon of a church in Indiana. Robert was a school bus driver for Simpson County Schools for 9 years. He did house keeping for Franklin-Simpson Memorial Hospital, and he owned his own landscaping business and collected knives.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Taylor Christian Camp or Dawson Properties.
