Rev. Thomas Lowell Lewis, age 87 of Jackson, TN. , entered into rest Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
A native of Simpson Co., Ky. he was the son of the late Herod and Annie Lewis. He was preceded in death by an infant son Michael Thomas, 2 sisters Sadie Pearl Lewis and Louise Hale and 2 younger brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rachel Jackson Lewis, a son Philip L. Lewis of Cleveland, TN., a daughter Joy Ruth Lewis of Jackson, TN., a Brother Presley Herod Lewis of Bowling Green, KY., and several nieces and nephews.
Mr Lewis was an avid hunter, fisherman and refinisher of antique furniture, Rev. Lewis will be most well known for his spreading of the Gospel, as was his calling. Beginning with his minisrty in Simpson Co., Ky., and Sumner Co., TN. in the late 1940"s he remained actively involved in the Lord's Work his entire life. This included pastorates at numerous churches within both TN and KY. His direction and leadership also involved being Director of Missions at various Baptist Associations, including Madison, Chester and Crockett county Baptist Association in West TN. for 17 years. He was a devoted father, loving husband, and faithful minister for the Lord.
