A native of Simpson Co., Ky., he was born July 9, 1924, to the late Mary Charlotte and the late Eddie Summerfield King. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and 7 brothers and sisters.
He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army's 25 Infantry Division. He attained the rank of Staff Sargent and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and other awards for service in the Philippine Islands.
Carman married Dorothy Jean Norwood with whom he had two sons David Carman and Jeffery Eddie. Widowed at an early age he married Linda Underwood his wife of 43 years.
Carman farmed in Simpson County before answering the call to ministry. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College and Emory University, Candler School of Theology. He began his ministry at Rochester Methodist Church and retired from First United Methodist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. and served as District Superintendent. He was a Master Mason at New Salem Lodge #462 and served on numerous boards and agencies with the United Methodist Church and Civic Organizations.
Carman is survived by his wife Linda, 2 sons David Carman King(Carole) of Louisville, Ky. and Jeffery Eddie King (Beth) of Indianapolis, IN. a grandson Mickey Carman King and great granddaughter Alexis Paige King, 2 sisters Carminta Wright and Louie Finn both of Indianapolis and many nephews and nieces.
