Rebecca was born on April, 11, 1940 in Greensburg, KY to the late Wendell Judd and Pernie (Rogers) Judd. She is preceded in death by her husband James Donald (Don) Kessler.
She is survived by her 4 children, Shannan Reinhardt (Dana) and Laura Duane (Bobby) both of Louisville, KY, James D. (Jim) Kessler II (Beth) of Bowling Green, KY, and Steven Kessler (Luvie) of Franklin, KY; 10 grandchildren, James D.(Trey) Kessler III, Grant Kessler, Lauren Kessler, River Kessler, Joyce Valentin, Mackenzie Neal, Emma Neal, Madeline Duane, Elizabeth Duane and Ella Duane; 1 brother, Joel Judd (Beverly) of Cynthiana, KY and 2 nieces, Ashley Hunt and Alyssa Mayo.
Becky, as everyone knew her, never met a stranger. She loved to share the story of meeting and immediately falling in love with her husband, Don at her parent’s country store in Greensburg, KY. Together they attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Don’s career eventually led them to planting roots in the Schweizer community of Franklin where they raised their children. She later obtained her master’s degree from Western Kentucky University and served her community as a social worker and family counselor. She created the non-profit organization Franklin Simpson A.B.L. E. She dedicated her life’s work to advocating for children and educating parents to prevent child abuse. She welcomed children and adults of all ages to her home for over thirty years to teach swimming lessons. If you ever recall seeing blue ribbons, the symbol of child abuse prevention, it was likely Becky’s doing. She loved playing tennis, and “whipping” around in her convertibles over the years. She most enjoyed time outside on the farm with her menagerie of furry friends and visits with grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center, BRACAC.org.
