Mr. Ray Wayne Carter of Franklin, KY, passed away too soon at the age of 57 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green, KY.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held the same day, Tuesday, March 19th at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 420 Cemetery Street in Franklin, KY.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Cochran; 2 sons, Treven Carter and Braylen Carter; 1 step-daughter that he loved as his own, Kameron Thorn; additional survivors include, a sister, Pamela Carter (Robbie Bradshaw); nephew, Colby Bradshaw; and aunts, uncles and cousins in North Carolina.
He loved to travel and experience the fun of life, but his favorite place was at home with his family. He most loved the children, to cook, grill, and take care of everyone around him. Ray could light up a room with his beautiful smile and even bigger heart. Even as ALS began stripping him of all the things he loved, he continued to live life with grace and appreciation. There was never a time that he did not express gratitude to everyone helping him or his family. He was a true role model of love, patience, and faithfulness, right up until his final act of kindness giving of life through organ donation.
Ray, was the son of the late Wayne and Alice Carter, born on October 10, 1966. In addition to his mother and father, he will be welcomed into heaven by his beloved grandparents, Cecil "Pops" Carter and Margie Carter. In addition, George and Ora Lee Laney. Ray was raised in North Carolina but loved Kentucky. He enjoyed working outside, beautifying his home, and loving his horses on the Kentucky land he spent summers on as a child. He was the ultimate handyman and regardless of the field, he had the tools and answers to create a solution. Thankfully, he was able to spend his final days in the comfort of the home he loved with the woman, family and friends he loved.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by mailing a donation to the ALS Organization, 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington , VA 22209 (envelopes will be available at the funeral home) or donating online @ donate.als.org in memory of Ray Carter. It would be greatly appreciated.
