Ray Dean Austin

Mr. Ray Dean “Razor” Austin, age 85, of Franklin, KY entered into rest Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 12:23 PM at his residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home.  Cremation was chosen, a Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial of cremains to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY, with military honors by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

Ray Dean was born September 17, 1932 to the late Benton Ulysses Austin and the late Ammer Frances Smith.  A son Kenny Ray Austin preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Sally Austin, 3 children Robert Dean Austin (Candy), Mark Benton Austin, Sherry Austin all of Franklin, KY, 9 grandchildren - Ashley Briggs, Jennifer Austin, Austin Humphreys, Tiffany Austin, Jessie Austin, Matt Austin, Trenton Rhea, Brandon Austin, Andrew Austin and 11 great grandchildren.

Ray was a member of the Bethany Church of Christ.  He was an Air Force Veteran, he was a member of the VFW post #5706, AM Vets Post #110 and served had served and commander of the American Legion Post #62 for nearly 20 years.  He had worked at Potter & Brumfield and at Wal-Mart for 10 years.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until service time on Thursday July 25, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home.
