Anna Pearl Welty Humes, 89, of Franklin, died July 25, 2013 at Hopkins Center in Woodburn.
She is survived by her sister: Mary Ruth (Tom) Barton of Charlotte, NC; her daughters: Karen (Steve) Wilhoit of Oakwood, OH and Kathy (Ron) Ford of Woodburn, KY; grandchildren: Paul (Maia) Ford of Bowling Green, Rachel Wilhoit of Washington DC, Sarah Wilhoit and Rebekah Wilhoit of Oakwood OH; step-grandchildren: Cynthia (Bobby) Moore and Brad Ford both of Russellville KY;great-grandchildren: Austin and Justin Ford of Russellville KY, Leslie, Kasey, and Oakley Ford of Bowling Green; and her traveling buddy and first cousin: Myrtle Railey of Albuquerque NM.
In her youth, she served in WWII efforts at what was then Wright Field in Ohio and continued civil service at Fort Knox where she met the love of her life, Cecil G. Humes, who preceded her in death. She spent 27 years as a Kentucky educator, in the Simpson County School system at Barnes School and Simpson Elementary. In retirement, she enjoyed many years of travelling both domestically and abroad, reading, taking her daily walks at the church, and visiting family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, N. Simpson Homemakers Club, and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. She was a long time member of Blackjack Baptist Church and active member of First Baptist Church both of Franklin, KY.
