Mrs. Mary Leslie Minnicks Yokley, age 92 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 8:45 A.M. at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green, Ky.A native of Simpson Co., KY. she was born November 26, 1919 to the late Leslie James and Mary Ertner Minnicks. She was preceded in death by a younger brother Lt. William Daniel Minnicks, a casualty of WW II, ETO operations.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 74 years Willis London Yokley, 2 daughters and sons-in-law; Becky Yokley Scearce and her husband Camden B. of Chattanooga, TN. and Lucy Yokley Stoner and her husband Carl F. of Franklin, KY., 3 grandsons; C. Ballard Scearce Jr. (Shannon), Daniel M. Scearce (Lesley) all of Chatanooga, TN. and L. Bradley Daugherty (Jaime) of Greensboro, N.C., a granddaughter Kerry D. Leach (Justin) of Nashville, TN., great grandchildren Bo, Saylor, Sam, Wake and Charlie Scearce, Max and Reece Daugherty and Warner Leach. Other survivors include and (adopted) niece, Commie Jo Hall, life-long friend, Mildred Adams, her husband's nieces and several cousins, and many other friends.
Mrs. Yokley was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1943. There she taught Sunday School, was director of the Women's Missionary Union, and sang in the Adult Choir and served on many committees.
She was a member and served as president of the Ella Hoy Goodnight Music Club. She served on the Goodnight Library Board as secretary, was charter member of the Business and Professional Womens Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of the Franklin Garden Club.
Mrs. Yokley and her husband founded the Frosty Freeze in Franklin in 1956 and ran the business for 51 years prior to selling it in 2007.
