Mary D. Hughes

Mary Delong Walker Hughes, age 86 of Franklin, KY, died at home Saturday, October 13, 2012, after a brief illness.
A native of Gallatin, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents George Preston Walker and Hope Delong Glick Walker, brother William Glick Walker, and granddaughter Virginia Lee Moore. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Hughes. She is survived by daughters Hope Hughes (Kathy) and Mary Lee Moore (Wayne), and son Lee R. Hughes, III (Brian); grandchildren Mary Anne Moore, Leslie Calvin Moore, Ashley Kayse-Hughes, and Justin Kayse-Hughes, sister-in-law Virginia Walker, and several beloved nephews and nieces.
Mary D. was a favorite school teacher for more than 30 years. A voracious reader and card player extraordinaire, she had a sharp wit and fabulous sense of humor. She never met a flower (or vegetable) she didn't love and grew them all. Always selfless and giving of herself to others, Mary D.'s devotion to friends and family knew no bounds. She was a member of Franklin First United Methodist Church.
