Mary Glenn Biggs

Mary Glenn Graves Biggs, age 91 of Franklin Ky. entered into rest Monday, June 4, 2018 at 1:50 p.m. at her residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 3 p.m Thursday, June 7, 2018 with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Ms. Biggs was born June 27, 1926 in Simpson Co., KY to the late Charlie Miles Graves and the late Burtha Green Carter Graves. She married James Nolan Biggs and farmed with him until his death in 1987. They were married for 44 years and she faithfully placed flowers on his grave on their wedding anniversary every Christmas Day. She was preceded in death by their only son, Larry Nolan Biggs, who they both loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters Pauline Graves, Nadine Graves, Amy Ruth Morgan, Naomi Stradtner, and her twin sister Martha Graves and one brother, Junior Graves.

She is survived by 2 sisters Betty Cline of Franklin, Ky. and Elizabeth Coombs of Bowling Green, Ky and Billy Graves of Franklin, Ky.; 2 granddaughters, Amy Biggs Ellis (John) of Franklin, Ky. and Beth Biggs Durham of Nashville, Tenn.: 4 great grandchildren: Dustin Agee of Cookeville, Tenn, Bryson Durham of Nashville, Tenn., Hanna Kirby (Stephen) and Chelsea Thompson (Brandon) both of Franklin, Ky. and 8 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Biggs was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church and lived in the Blackjack Community for 70 years. She worked at the Allen Garment Factory and was a member of the Ruth Electra Eastern Star.  She and her husband raised dairy cows, row crops and beef cows. After the death of her husband, she continued to raise cattle until she reached her golden years. She loved to sew, garden, cook and spend time with her family. She could grow any flower or tree from just a sprig. She loved to work in her yard, even when she reached her 80s with the assistance of JoAnn Huizenga - who would help her with her flowers. She never went to bed unless she had spent the day working on something.

Visitation will begin Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 6 a.m. until the funeral service time at 3 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home.
