Mrs. Margaret Hatter Young, age 89 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 12:20 P.M. at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.
A native of Simpson Co., KY., she was the daughter of the late Annie Laura and Emmett P. Hatter, former Master Commissioner and Franklin City and County Attorney. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents David Henry Hatter (Ella Cushenberry), Franklin businessman and Simpson County Judge; maternal grandparents William McHenry Rhoads (Ree Crawford) a prominent Kentucky Educator. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Ree Hatter and Anne Hatter Mullikin and a brother Emmett P. Hatter, Jr., who was killed in action in the Pacific theater during World War II.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Douglas Holland Young; a daughter Marilyn Young O'Dell of Nashville, TN. and a son the Honorable Lawrence (Larry) D. Young (Kyle) of Sandy Springs, GA.; three grandchildren: Benjamin Hatter O'Dell (Lindsay) of Decatur, GA., Andrew Peyton O'Dell (Sarah) of Atlanta, GA. and Harrison Lawrence Young of Sandy Springs, GA.
Mrs. Young graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1946 with a degree in Home Economics (Nutrition) and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She was a member of the Ella Hoy Goodnight Music Club and was a lifelong member of the Franklin First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Philathea Sunday School class for many years.
