Mrs. Emalene Hughes, age 81, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at The Grandview Nursing & Rehab in Campbellsville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., with interment to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Emalene was born on December 17, 1942 in Franklin, KY, to the late Guy Phillips and the late Bernice Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Hughes, Sr. and her sister, Shirley Norwood.
She is survived by her son, John Allen Hughes, Jr (Jenny) of Campbellsville, KY; 3 grandchildren, Lauren Hughes Buscher (Chad), Alex Hughes (Abigale) and Jack Hughes; Niece, Faye Jackson (Eddie) of Franklin, KY; 2 Nephews, Phil Norwood (Linda) of Franklin, KY and Steve Goodrum (Sherri) of Versailles, KY.
Emalene was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ. She is a graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School class of 1960 and also a graduate of Mid State Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, TN.
She was a registered nurse until her retirement in 2006.
