Kathy Ellen Leath

Ms. Kathy Ellen Leath, age 61, of Bowling Green, KY, passed into her eternal life on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 3:30 AM at Morgantown Care & Rehabiliation Center in Morgantown, KY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory.  Funeral services will be held the same day, on Tuesday, December 5th at 12:00 PM with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Kathy was born on April 23, 1962 in Warner Robins, GA at the Robins Air Force Base to the late Fred Leath and Shirley Ann (Turner) Leath, whom survives.  She is also preceded in death by her father, Fred Leath; and maternal grandparents, Willie Mac & Lucille Turner.

She is survived by her mother, Shirley Ann (Turner) Leath; a brother, Randy Douglas Leath (Shollie) of Knoxville, TN; and several cousins.

Kathy was a member of University Church of Christ where she enjoyed teaching Bible Classes specifically to children.  She also worked at the Potter Home for girls.  Kathy attended Warren Elementary, Cumberland Trace Elementary and Warren Central High School where she graduated in 1980.  She attended David Lipscomb and Western Kentucky University and another technical school where she earned a certificate and degree in Secretarial Science with a 4.0 GPA and perfect attendance.

Among her many talents that she excelled in were 1/12 scale miniatures which she enjoyed with her mother.  She was a chairman on the National Committee.  She taught classes to other miniaturist.  She had a love for needle arts including embroidery and miniature embroidery in 1/12 scale and regular scale, petit point, crochet, tole painting, ceramics, woodworking and others.

Her personality was strong and caring.  She treasured her friends, family, and cats & dogs. She never met a cat or dog she wouldn’t pet.  Kathy was a 7 year 4-H member. She enjoyed clothing, foods.  She won 2 State Championships at the local and state fair.  She always earned a blue or red or champion ribbon, never a white.
