John William Searcy

Mr. John Searcy, age 89, of Franklin, Ky., died Monday, October 5, 2009 at 5:00 A. M. at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

A native of Nelson Co., KY., he was the son of the late Grayson Hughes Searcy and the late Cora Scroggam Searcy. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Ancel and four sisters, Maythe, Mabel, Naomi and Mary.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rebecca Shugart Searcy; a daughter Jane Searcy Bellucci and husband Dennis of Louisville, KY. and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Searcy was a graduate of Bardstown High School, attended Western Kentucky State College earning a bachelors degree in English and History. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 20th Armored Division and a retired employee of the Equitable Life Assurance Society. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving in statewide Baptist organizations.
