Mr. John T. "Chug" King, Jr. age 80, of Franklin, KY., died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 6:15 P.M. at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green, Ky. after a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Simpson Co., Ky. he was the son of the late John T. King, Sr. and the late Nina Violet Finn King. He was preceded in death by 1 Brother Charles Layman King, 1Sister Patricia Mayes and Brother-In-Law H.B. Howser.
He is survived by his wife Sue Baird King, 1 Son John Mark King and his wife Krystal of Franklin, Ky., 1 Sister Edith Howser of Franklin, Ky., 1 Brother-In-Law Bobby Mayes of Franklin, Ky. 1 Granddaughter Megan King, 4 Nephews John Charles Howser, Robin Mayes, Kevin King and Doug King, 4 Nieces Debbie Roddy, Teresa Mayes, Beth Mayes Kelley and Mary Jill Gadowski, Several Great Nieces and nephews and 2 Grand Pugs Buddy and Pinky.
Mr. King was a WW II and Korean Army Veteran. He was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church, Franklin Rotary Club, V.F.W. Post #5706, American Legion Post # 62, Salem Masonic Lodge, Farm Bureau, and Al Menah Shriners Temple. He was former member of the board at Lewis Memorial Home of which he served as chairman. . A graduate of Western Ky. University with a B.S. degree in agriculture and psychology, a former employee at the Farmers Elevator in Franklin, a farmer, John was co-owner of Lane-King Chevrolet and Pontiac for 26 Years. Always an optimist, John enjoyed his friends, was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Franklin Country Club
