John Allen Buchanan

Mr. John Buchanan, age 61, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Hopkins Nursing Center & Rehabilitation in Woodburn, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, KY.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1st, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 from 6:00 AM until funeral service time.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

John was born on March 16th, 1959 in Franklin, KY to the late Elmer T. Buchanan and the late Hettie Dee Russell Buchanan.  He is also preceded in death by 1 sister, Lucy Mae Gent, 1 brother, Louis Blaine Buchanan; 3 nephews, Danny Gent, Kenny Buchanan and Jeff Buchanan.

He is survived by 1 sister-in-law, Ruth Buchanan of Evansville, IN; 3 nieces, Elisa Gent Davison of Franklin, KY, Jackie Downey Gent of Franklin, KY and Susan Buchanan of Evansville, IN; 1 nephew, Jason Buchanan of Evansville, IN; several great nieces and nephews.

John is a member of Blackjack Baptist Church in Simpson County, KY.  He worked for Lifeskills Industries.  John participated in the Special Olympics and was the Grand Marshal of the Buddy Walk in 2016.
