John Richard Belcher
January 10, 1932 — April 21, 2010
Mr. John R. Belcher, age 78, of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:34 A.M. at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.
He was the son of the late Wilson Franklin Belcher and the late Essie Cherry Belcher Rowland and was preceded in death by his wife Jean Belcher.
He is survived by 2 sons; Bill Belcher and wife Bertha and “J. R.” Jim Belcher, a sister Kay Warren and niece Cynthia Warren all of Franklin, KY.; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and companion Margaret Engstrum of Franklin, KY.
Mr. Belcher was a member of the First Baptist Church, a farmer and a former employee of the Kroger Co. for 19 years. He served two terms as Simpson County Sheriff and a County Detective. He was an Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 62 and the V.F.W. Post 5706.
