Joe Thomas Smith

Mr. Joe Thomas Smith, age 63, of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 10:40 A. M. at his residence.
A native of Barren Co., KY., he was the son of the late Joe C. Smith and Ada Lee Bush Smith of Pineville, KY. who survives him.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Towe Smith; a daughter Kim Smith Gilbert and husband Kevin of Franklin, KY., a step-son Greg Hardcastle of Scottsville, KY., a step-daughter Lisa Hardcastle Adams of Louisville, KY.; a brother Howard V. Smith of Bowling Green, KY., a half-brother Robert L. Madon of Pineville, KY.; 2 grandchildren: Brittanie Thompson and Alex Gilbert; 3 step-grandchildren: Heather Hardcastle Bushelman, Kristin Hardcastle, Andrew Hardcastle and a step- great grandchild Kendall Bushelman.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed contractor and an employee of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home and Gilbert Monument Co. He was a 1965 graduate of Olmstead High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, a member of the Franklin Simpson Chapter of the Gideons International and a member of the Simpson County Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans. He served his country as an Army Staff-Sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart.
