James Thomas "Bones" Cothern

Mr. James “Bones” Cothern, age 73, of Franklin, KY, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at 8:31 AM at his residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday,November 27th, 2019 with burial to follow in the Prices Mill Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY.  The Simpson County Honor Guard will give military honors.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home.

“Bones” was born November 28, 1945 in Simpson Co. KY to the late Lawrence Cothern and the late Euree Kirkland Cothern.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Leon and Roger Cothern.

He is survived by his wife Judy Johns Cothern, 3 children Cathy Cothern (Kevin) of Franklin, KY, Leslie Alford (Chris) of Franklin, KY, Jamie Cummings (Brad) of Franklin, KY, 5 grandchildren Erin Spears, Brandon Kinnaird, Adam Alford, Jacee Cummings, Cassadee Cummings, 5 great grandchildren Elizabeth Spears, Aidan Kinnaird, Kyler Kinnaird, Grayson Alford, Scarlett Slaven, 2 sisters Linda Mann of Franklin, KY and Clara Dinning of Bowling Green, KY.

Bones was a member, chairman of the Deacons, and trustee of the New Hope Baptist Church. He was in the US Army Reserve and was crop advisor for Nutrien Crop Service.
