Mr. James “Jim” Cornwell, age 82 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 11:00 P. M. at the Medco Nursing Home in Franklin, KY.
A native of Simpson Co., KY., he was the son of the late Henry Cornwell and the late Velma Rutherford Cornwell. He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Eubanks and a brother Marshall Cornwell.
He is survived by his wife Nell Cornwell of Franklin, KY.; 2 sons: Bobby Cornwell and wife Sandra of Franklin, KY. and Jimmy Cornwell of Ledbetter, KY.; a sister Betty Bush of Franklin, KY.; 6 grandchildren: Michael Cornwell, Stephanie Cornwell, Candie Huddleston, Kyle Cornwell, Ethan Cornwell and Evan Cornwell; a great grandson Dylan Cornwell and a great granddaughter Elizabeth Huddleston.
Mr. Cornwell was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, a retired employee of Potter & Brumfield. and a former employee of the Franklin Country Club. He loved sports and was an avid University of Kentucky fan. He was a referee for Ky. high school football and baseball and was Commissioner of the Franklin-Simpson Babe Ruth League.
