James Calvin Cauley

Mr. James Cauley, age 82 of Franklin, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 5:47 AM at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 20th, from 6:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Providence Cemetery in Simpson County, KY located at 7536 Springfield Rd Franklin, KY 42134.

James was born on May 31, 1941 in Logan County, KY to the late Marvin Edward Cauley and the late Mary Josephine (Seiber) Cauley. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Regina Faye (Sharp) Cauley; 2 brothers, Lewis Cauley and LeRoy Cauley; and sister, Josephine Minnicks.

He is survived by 3 children, Kenny Cauley (Patricia), Carol Chaney (Scott) both of Franklin, KY and Jim Cauley; 6 grandchildren, Zach Rouse (Dee), Trey Rouse, Madessa Jett, Cynthia Chaney Stacey (Trevor), Carra Chaney, Randa Herrington; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, Kathryn Pitt of Orlinda, TN, Corrine Marklin of Franklin, KY, Christine Shoulders of Franklin, KY, Barbara Sue Burnette of Franklin, KY and Larry Cauley of Franklin, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

James worked for Southern States Co-Op for 20 years and was also a farmer until he lost his sight in a hunting accident, then his main focus was his family. What he enjoyed most in life was getting a laugh from someone, gardening and sharing that with neighbors, spending time with his grandkids and just sitting on his front porch waving at whoever passed by.  He formerly attended New Hope Baptist Church.
