James Ray Burnette, 91, of Franklin, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord and his heavenly family, Sept. 24, 2008, 1 :45 PM at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green , Kentucky .
Mr. Burnette was a native of Franklin and grew up in the Barnes Community. He graduated from high school in Franklin in 1937, where he played basketball and was an avid marble player. He also played the harmonica and the guitar, both of which he self- taught himself. He lived life "his way" and loved his family. He was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Franklin , where he served as an usher for many years. He was a retired employee of the Drackett Company and a self-employed farmer for many years.
Mr. Burnette was the husband of the late Hester Wilburn Burnette and the son of the late John Ervin Burnette and Pauline Ausbrooks Burnette.
Survivors include a son, James Doyle Burnette and his wife, Patsy, of Myrtle Beach, SC; three daughters, Betty Thompson and her husband, Roger, of Bowling Green, Cheryl Petra and her husband, John, of Franklin, Sheila Ausmus of Bowling Green; 4 grandchildren, Laura Kennedy Journell of Mt Juliet, Tn, Richard Kennedy of Nashville, TN, Jonathan Belcher of Franklin, Brian Belcher of Bowling Green; and 2 great grandchildren, Garrett Journell and Gavin Kennedy.
