Mr. Herbert Leon “Sonny” Thornton age 81, of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 6:30 A.M. the Medical Center in Franklin, KY .
A native of Sumner Co., TN. he was the son of the late Hoyt Herschel Thornton and late Vallie Lillian Holmes Thornton.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Thornton, 6 daughters Robbie T. Ferreri and her husband Giovanni, Gail Ladd and.her husband Wayne, Debbie Thornton, Susie Sabelsak and her husband Bill, Cindy Patterson and her husband Dr. Kelly all of Franklin, KY., and Bonnie Mitchell and her husband Bill of Nashville, TN ., a son David Thornton of Nashville, TN., 8 grandchildren Alex, Andrew and Geoffrey Patterson, Sabrina Ferreri, Lacy Utley, Ashley Deweese, Courtney Ladd and Sara Hooten, 4 great grandchildren, Madison Abigail Utley, Allie Kate Utley, Parker Wayne Deweese and Dalton Deweese, 2 aunts Rosemary McCormick and Bernette Thomas.
Mr. Thornton was a member and former trustee of the Franklin Church of Christ, Franklin Lions Club, Franklin Chamber of Commerce in which he received business of the year of award and Franklin Country Club. He owned and operated Friendly Furniture Store for more than 50 years.
