George Robert Turns

Mr. George Robert Turns, age 87of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Wednesday,  March  16, 2016 at his residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.  Military honors will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

A native of Springfield, TN., he was the son of the late Jim Burns and Beatrice Turns.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lucy E. Turns and his wife Elizabeth Atwood Turns, a son Bobby Randall Turns and his son Bobby Turns a grandson and 2 brothers Billy “Curly” Turns and J. B. Turns.

He is survived by 2 sons Billy W. “Skip” Turns (Michi) of Greenwood, IN. and Richard Turns, a brother Jimmy Turns (Nancy) if Elkhart, IN. and a sister Dorothy Jean Turns Dunaway of Louisville, KY.;  3 grandchildren Brian Turns, Scott Turns and Carrie Turns.

Mr. Turns was self-employed as a contractor.  He was a retired Army Command Sgt. Major and paratrooper traveling overseas to serve and a member of the American Legion.

Visitation will begin Friday, March 18, 2016 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday at 6:00AM until funeral service time at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home.
