Garnet Cothern

Mr. Garnet Cothern, age 92, of Franklin, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at 2:18 PM at The Medical Center of Bowling Green, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 22nd 2020 with burial to follow in the Providence Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday February 21st 2020 and from 6:00 AM until time of service Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Garnet was born February 23, 1927 in Simpson County KY to the late Benton Cothern and the late Ruth Fagg Cothern. He was preceded in death by a step – son; James Robert “Bo” Pitt, a son-in-law; Billy Ray England,

2 brothters; William and Lawrence Cothern, 3 sisters; Leona Gomer, Frances Warren, and Dorothy Lee.

Garnet is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Cothern, 2 children; Pat England of Portland, TN and Rickey Cothern (Cherie) of Bowling Green, KY, 3 grandchildren; Corey England, Dakota Jopes, Tyler Jopes, 1 great granddaughter; Madison England.

Garnet was a member of Lake Spring Baptist Church and owned Franklin Billards. He loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed watching the Tennessee Titans.
