Mrs. Ellen “Beth” Cullen, age 97, of Franklin, KY, formerly of Mankato, MN, passed away Saturday, January 11th, 2020 at 10:25 PM at Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care, in Scottsville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Franklin First United Methodist Church, 107 North College Street, Franklin, KY. 42134. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Franklin First United Methodist Church. A lunch reception will be held after the service. Cremation was chosen and she will be interred, next to her husband, in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato, MN. A memorial gathering will be held in Mankato, MN at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, KY.
Mrs. Cullen was born on August 30th, 1922 in Belmont, Wisconsin to the late Oscar Frank Schaefer and to the late Mabel Ann Smith-Schaefer. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. W. Clough Cullen; a son, Dr. W. Craig Cullen; a daughter-in-law, Dr. Jillian Thompson; 2 brothers, Leo Schaefer and Everett Schaefer.
She is survived by a daughter, Candace “Candy” E. Stolt (Gary) of Franklin, KY.; 2 grandchildren, Karen King of Camden, TN. and Tim Stolt (Carmen) of LaGrange, KY.; 4 great-grandchildren, Julia King, Jackson King, Evelyn Stolt, and Oliver Stolt; and lifetime best friend, Bette Rademacher of Mankato, MN.
Mrs. Cullen was a devoted church member and choir member at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato, MN. She worked alongside her husband at the Cullen Veterinary Clinic. Mrs. Cullen also worked at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital as a physical therapist assistant and at Blue Earth Public Health as a home health aide in Mankato, MN. She was a member in PEO Sisterhood for 71 years and Eastern Star for 71 years. Mrs. Cullen was involved in several bridge clubs. She was on the Board of Directors and a volunteer for the MRCI Thrift Store.
Mrs. Cullen was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by all for her loyal service, love and hospitality to her church, her family, her friends and her community in Mankato, MN. She shared her positive attitude, ready compliments and sweet smile with everyone she met. She was a fine lady whom will be greatly missed.
