Elizabeth Mayes Atwood Turns

Mrs. Elizabeth Mayes Atwood Turns, age 85 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 5:45 AM at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.
Arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
A native of Franklin, KY., she was the daughter of the late Paul Hayden Mayes and the late Ida Belle Laney Mayes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years Alton M. Atwood and George Robert Turns, a son David M. Atwood and daughter-in-law Martine C. Atwood.
She is survived by a daughter Betsy Atwood Kennedy (Rod) of Louisville, KY. and a son Dale T. Atwood (Charlene) of Nashville, TN.; a brother Curtis H. Mayes of Memphis, TN.; 4 grandchildren Samuel Gordon Atwood, Marie Elizabeth Atwood (Jason Wald), Cameron Atwood Kennedy and Braden David Kennedy.
Mrs. Turns was a retired deputy sheriff of the Simpson County Sheriff Dept. and attended Lake Springs Church. She was a member of the Franklin BPW, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62, the DAR and DAC.
Visitation will begin Friday, March 18, 2016 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday at 6:00 AM until funeral service time at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home.
