Edith King Howser

July 23, 1926 — March 23, 2013

Mrs. Edith King Howser, age 86 of Franklin, KY., passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green, KY.

A native of Franklin, KY., she was the daughter of the late John T. King, Sr. and the late Nina Finn King. Edith was born July 23,1926 and married Holly B. Howser August 31, 1947. She is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Charles L. King and John T. King, Jr. and a sister Patricia King Mayes and long-time companion, Ernest L. Carter.

She is survived by a daughter Deborah Kay Roddy of Bowling Green, KY., a son John Charles Howser (Blayne) of Nashville, TN.; two granddaughters Tara Arnold Griffith (Jeff) of Bowling Green, KY. and Kelli Arnold Gillispie (Dale) of Lexington, KY.; two great-grandsons Owen Taylor Griffith and Gage River Gillispie and great-granddaughter Katelyn Leigh Gillispie.

Mrs. Howser was an executive secretary for the Retail Merchants Association of Madisonville, KY. and Baker & Hickman Department Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in both Madisonville and Franklin, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and named a Kentucky Colonel. She was an active member of the North Simpson and Oak Grove Homemakers Clubs.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Rosewood Health Care Center, Morningside Assisted Living and Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
