Dwight Hinton

Mr. Dwight Hinton, age 67, of Franklin, KY, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1:54 PM at his residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 20 2020 with burial to follow in the Shady Grove Church Cemetery in Franklin, KY, with military honors by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2020  and from 6:00 AM until service time Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Dwight was born November 4, 1952 in Portland, TN, to the late Allen Hinton and the late Viola Mathias Hinton.

Dwight is survived by his wife; Sheila Sloan Hinton, 2 children; Brandi Leigh Hinton of Gallatin, TN and Shalee Mann (Bryan) of Franklin, KY, grandchildren; CraigAllen Hinton, Stoney Dorris, Jr., Harlan Mann and Corbyn Mann, 2 brothers; Harry “Sonny” Summers of Mitchellville, TN and Henry Hinton of Portland, TN, 3 sisters; Darlene Goad of Mitchellville, TN, Jane King of Bowling Green, KY and Cindy Brown of Bakersfield, CA.

Dwight was a member of the Blue Door Church, a US Army Veteran, and belonged to New Salem Lodge #462 and the VFW Post #5706. He worked in maintenance at New Mather Metals. Dwight loved to be outdoors. Gardening, farming and hunting were his favorite. He also enjoyed playing video games.
