Ms. Dorothy Douglas, age 91 of Franklin, KY, entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2018 at 12:47 AM at Oak Hill Senior Living in Portland, TN.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2018 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Ms. Douglas was born February 11, 1927 in Winchester, KY. to the late Charles Driver Douglas and the late Lorena Turpin Douglas. A brother Charles Douglas preceded her in death.
She is survived by a brother Billy Douglas (Martha) of Franklin, KY and 3 nieces and 2 nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews,
Ms. Douglas was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Naples, FL. She retired clerk with the US Senate, Subcommittee on Federal Services, Post Office, Civil Service and Committee on Governmental Affairs. She worked for KY Senator Walter D. Huddleston and David Pryor Senator from Arkansas under the Clinton Administration. She worked with the Appropriations Committee and closely with NASA and the Military. While working with NASA she became Friends with Sally Ride, the first woman in space. She was an avid golfer.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, April 21, 2018 and from 6:00 AM until service time Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
