Dorothy (Cassetty) Appling

Ms. Dorothy Appling, age 89, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Bethel Grove United Methodist Church, 5688 Robey Bethel Grove Road in Simpson County, KY.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Dorothy was born on December 19, 1932 in Franklin, KY to the late Robert Haskell “R.H.”  “Hack” Cassetty and the late Bessie (Dishman) Cassetty.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Tim Appling and 2 sisters, Francis and Louise Cassetty.

She is survived by 4 children,  Aleta Diane Appling of Steamboat Springs, CO, Gary Appling (Lynda) of Fultz, IL, Jean Schrader of Madison, AL and Teresa Hughes (Charlie) of Auburn, KY; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Connor, Sherry, Brandy, Dustin, Garrett and Kristen; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a member of Bethel Grove United Methodist Church in Simpson County, KY.  She worked many years at Moore’s Drugstore in downtown Franklin, KY.  Dorothy enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and sewing.
