Dixie J. Harris Porter

Mrs. Dixie J. Harris Porter, age 73 of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 6:45 AM at the St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.

Arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2016 with burial to follow in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Scottsville, KY.

A native of Warren Co., KY., she was the daughter of the late Joe D. and Martha Pauline Deweese Cardwell. She was preceded in death by a sister Paula Lynn Orange.

She is survived by her husband Bill Porter of Franklin, KY., a son Eddie Harris (Lynn) of Scottsville, KY., a step-son Chuck Porter (Michelle) of Franklin, KY., pet companion Snoopy and grand dogs Sadie, Sally, Peanut, Shelby and Tahiti; 3 sisters Sharon Shoemake of Morgantown, KY., Sheila Morgan (Randy) of Russellville, KY. and Polly Dixon of Bowling Green, KY.; 6 brothers Wayne Cardwell (Linda),Chuck Cardwell and Jeff Cardwell (Laura) all of Bowling Green, KY., Joey Cardwell  (Jennifer) of Glasgow, KY., Ronnie Cardwell (Tammy) of Morgantown, KY. and Tim Cardwell (Janice) of New Mexico.; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Porter was a professional photographer.  She was a member of the Franklin Garden Club and the Franklin Country Club Ladies Golf Association and volunteer for the Friends of the Goodnight Library.  She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, grand dogs and winter vacations at the condo in Panama City Beach, Florida.  Her hobbies were golf, gardening, making baskets and reading.

Visitation will begin Monday, April 4, 2016 at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM Tuesday until funeral service time at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home.
