Cherie Meyer Moore, age 80, of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 7, 1944, in Evansville, IN, Cherie led a purposeful life, dedicated to caring for others both personally and professionally. She was a gentle soul with a calm spirit, known for being a steady source of strength and solace to those in need. She had an innate ability to make those around her feel important, cared for and heard. She cherished music and was an avid piano player throughout her life. Her faith and dedication to her community were evident in her role as a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church of Centreville, VA. Her exuberance for life was reflected through her many talents, including cooking, music, sewing, knitting, genealogy, and her love for the German language.
She was a proud graduate of the Benjamin Bosse High School Class of 1962 in Evansville, IN. She graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a minor in theater from the University of Evansville where she was active in a number of the University's theater productions. She worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a registered nurse in the hospital's surgical ward from 1967-1974 before graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 1975 with a Master of Liberal Arts and starting her family with her husband, Kenneth.
Her greatest pride came from her family, to whom she devoted herself wholeheartedly. She is survived by her children, Aimee Moore (Tyler) of Nashville, TN, David Moore (Stephanie) of Franklin, KY, Timothy Moore (April) of Nashville, TN, Mark Moore (Jillian) of Nashville, TN, Geoffrey Moore of Franklin, KY; and four grandchildren, Parker, Mason, Emma James and Meyer Moore. Her family brought her immeasurable joy and fulfillment.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melburn Meyer and Leola Austin Meyer; her husband, James Kenneth Moore, Sr., and her son, James Kenneth Moore, Jr.
A visitation in her honor will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, KY. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
