Charles E. "Charlie" White of Franklin, KY and Lakeland, FL passed away peacefully at Highlands Lake Nursing Home on Friday April 17,2009 due to complications from a stoke,
Charlie was born in Peoria, IL on September 24,1925 to Joe and Edith White. (Deceased). He had one brother, Donald. (Deceased) After serving in the Army during WWII as member of the engineering corps, he returned to Peoria and continued his education at Bradley University, where he graduated with a BS in engineering. There he met his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Haverton. (Deceased)
Charlie and Mary moved to Franklin in 1957 from Park Forest, IL where Charlie continued his career with the Kendall Company/Bauer and Black as plant engineer for the new Franklin facility. He retired in 1992 after 40 years of "making Curads and Duct Tape." He continued his work as a registered land surveyor in the states of KY and TN until 2004.
Charlie's love was his houseboat, the "Merry Mary" and his involvement in the Cherokee Yacht Club where he served as Commodore Emeritius. Nothing made him happier than to have his family and friends join him for an adventure on the river.
Charlie was a member of the Franklin Lions Club, American Legion Post #62, and the Franklin AMVETS.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Sue Moody and her husband ,Hunter, his son, Doug White and his wife, Kay all of Lakeland, Fl; 3 grandchildren:Carley Devore of Clarksville, TN, Jennie Samons of Savatinah.GA and Andrew Moody of Santa Monica, CA,
