Charles C. Portmann

Mr. Charles “Charlie” Portmann, age 53 of Franklin, KY., died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 9:35 A. M. at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held noon on Saturday, May 2, 2015 with burial to follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson Co., KY.

A native of Franklin, KY., he was the son of the late Stanley Roy Portmann and the late Jo Anne Raines Portmann.

He is survived by his wife Penny Portmann, a son Charles Stanley Portmann and a daughter Brooke Morgan Portmann all of Franklin, KY.; 2 brothers Victor Lee Portmann of Frankfort, KY. and Edward Lowell Portmann of Franklin, KY.; 2 aunts & 2 uncles, several other family members and close friends.

Mr. Portmann was a former editor of the Franklin Favorite and a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church and attended Sulphur Spring Baptist Church.  He served on the Franklin-Simpson Hospital Board and FS Swimming Pool Board.  He was a member of the Franklin Lion’s Club and former president of KPA (Kentucky Press Association).  In the community he was very active in local sports from youth to high school leagues.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. Friday, May 1, 2015 and from 6:00 A. M. until service time Saturday at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home.
