Mr. Billy Joe Booker age 69, of LaGrange, GA., formerly of Franklin, KY., entered into rest Monday, November 23, 2009, at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA.
Born May 13, 1940, in Simpson Co., KY., he was the son of the late Harry Booker and the late Joe Evelyn Butt Booker.
He is survived by his wife Paulette Booker of LaGrange, GA.; 3 daughters: Branda Booker of Owensboro, KY., Berrie Crump of Clarksville, TN. and Buffy Bales of Nashville, TN.; step-daughter Tiffany Gay and step-son Lee Griffin both of LaGrange, GA.; 2 sisters: Harriet Cummings of Lebanon, TN. and Linda Booker of Franklin, KY.; a brother Bobby Booker of Bartlett, TN. 7 Grandchildren: Nikki, Matt, Wesley, Matthew, Jacob, Taylor and Amber; close friends, Dr. John Kelly of Franklin, KY. and Bill Dobbs of Louisville, KY.
Mr. Booker was a 1958 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, received a B.S. degree in 1962 from Western Kentucky University, signed with the Buffalo Bills professional football team and played for the semi-pro team the Louisville Raiders. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1964 and was a retired funeral director and embalmer.
