Billie Payton Harris

October 29, 1924 — February 23, 2009

Mr. Billie Payton. Harris, age 84, of Franklin, KY., died Monday, February 23, 2009 at 12:20 P.M. at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

A native of Simpson Co., KY., he was the son the late Thomas Edgar Harris and the late Ora Lee Markham Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Hickman Harris, a sister Josephine Harris Park and a brother Robert Bailey Harris.


He is survived by 2 Daughters: Carolyn Robbins and husband Johnny; Jennie L. West and husband Bobby all of Franklin, KY.; a son Tom Harris of Gulf Shores, AL. 6 Grandchildren: Scott Brown, Ashleigh Harris, Julie Hazzard, Amy Williams, Ben Robbins and Laura Smith and 8 Great Grandchildren.


Mr. Harris was a self-employed contractor, a member of the First Baptist Church, a WWII Army veteran, member of the American Legion Post #62, AmVets Post 110 and D.A.V. Chapter 125. He belonged to the New Salem Masonic Lodge #462 for 60 years, past Master, and past worthy patron of the Eastern Star, member of the council, Royal Arch , member of Commandry, a 32nd degree Mason and district deputy of New Salem Lodge and a member of Rizpah Shriner’s Temple. He was past chairman of the Simpson County School Board and a past Simpson County Deputy Sheriff.
