Funeral services will be held the same day, on Tuesday, December 19th at 11:00 AM at the church with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Bill was born on October 1, 1938 in Franklin, KY to the late Lewis Scott and the late Edna Earl (Haydon) Scott. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Scott.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kenny Lynn (Snider) Scott; 5 sons, Jamie Scott (Dana) of Franklin, KY, Steve Scott (Linda) of Goodlettsville, TN, Chris Scott (Angel) of Portland, TN, Bill Doug (Lisa) of Franklin, KY and Tom Scott of Franklin, KY; 7 grandchildren, Haydon Scott (Rachel), Carra Scott, Andrew Scott, Ryan Scott, Olivia Scott, Isabella Scott and Shelby Scott; 2 great-grandchildren, Tucker and Kendall; 1 sister, Patsy Randolph of Franklin, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was a member of Franklin Church of Christ in Franklin, KY, where he served as a Deacon. He graduated from the Franklin-Simpson High School class of 57 and joined the local National Guard unit while still in high school. He moved to New York City where he attended and graduated from RCA Institute, America’s Oldest Radio School. While in NY, he met and dated an 18-year-old ballet dancer from Miami. They married and honeymooned in Miami in 1961, before planting themselves in Franklin, KY and starting what quickly became a large family.

From early childhood, Bill was driven by electrical technology. According to his mother, he took apart, worked on and fixed everything. She told the story of him requesting “wires” for Christmas. Those that knew him, especially his boys, were amazed by his brilliance. He could truly figure out and fix anything. Bill spent a 38- year career as the Lab Supervisor and Director of Maintenance at Potter and Brumfield/Siemens/Tyco, an electronics company producing relays. He was a member and Chairman of the Simpson County Jaycees, the Simpson County Parks Board and the Simpson County Fair Board. He also served 16 years as Magistrate in the South District under Simpson County Fiscal Court.

Bill loved anything water, especially boating and skiing, but mostly just the magic of the water. He spent many years boating with his children, grandchildren, and friends. All have great memories of good times on Old Hickory, where everyone was welcome. He was always young physically and young at heart. He was gentle, kind, polite, and never missed a chance to hold the door, no matter who you were. He was slow to speak and quick to smile. This world could use a lot of Bill Scotts. He will be missed.
