Betty C. Jernigan

Mrs. Betty C. Jernigan, age 93 of Franklin, KY passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 9:45 PM at The Medical Center at Franklin, in Franklin, KY.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue from 6:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Monday, March 27th. Funeral services will follow visitation at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with interment to follow in the Restlawn Memory Gardens, in Simpson County, KY.

Betty was born on September 1, 1929 in Franklin, KY to the late Arnett Lee Carter and the late Clara Mae (Faulin) Carter. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Jernigan and 6 siblings.

She is survived by 4 children, Tom Jernigan, Lucy Jernigan, Joe Jernigan (Pat) all of Franklin, KY and Ben Jernigan of Dawson Springs, KY; 6 grandchildren, Jerry Jernigan (Brandy), Amy Hargrove, Katelyn Jernigan, Kellie Jo Nealy (Devin), Huston Jernigan, Jake Jernigan; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jernigan was a member of Franklin Church of Christ. She was retired from the Simpson County School System where she was the head-cook at Lincoln Elementary for many years. Betty was also a 1947 class-graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing or quilting.
