Bessie Mai (Duke) Evans

Mrs. Bessie Mai Evans, age 92, of Franklin, KY passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 7:30 AM at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13th, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY.  Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13th at 2:00 PM with interment to follow in Wilson County Memorial Gardens, 618 South Maple Street in Lebanon, TN.

Bessie was born on November 9, 1930 in Smyrna, TN to the late Robert Duke and the late Nettie (Woods) Duke.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Evans and 3 sons, Michael Evans, Donnie Evans & Nathan Evans.

She is survived by 3 grandchildren, John Evans (Mandy) of Brownsville, KY, Amie Ricard (Drake) of Franklin, KY and Matthew Evans of Cookeville, TN; 14 great-grandchildren, Micheala (Adrian) Lajuanesse, John Thomas Evans, Delila Evans, Xander Evans, Zoe Evans, Isaiah Evans, Ava Evans, Deano Evans, Jashawn Evans, Carlee Evans, Luna Evans, Ricki Evans, Cierra Ricard, Gaven Ricard; 2 great-great grandchildren, Trident Lajuanesse & J.W. Lajuanesse; and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie was retired from Middle Tennessee Medical Center where she worked as a nurse.  She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Beech Grove, TN and has attended Franklin Community Church in Franklin, KY since moving to Franklin, KY.  Bessie and her late husband were former members of the Alabama Baptist Association.  She enjoyed growing and cutting flowers, listening to birds and all music by the Gaither's.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1006 Seng Ave. Franklin, KY, 42134, Attn:  Marie Pitts.  Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
