Mrs. Barbara Ann Foster, age 84, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the last of eleven homes she and her late husband built together after retiring.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 from 1:00 PM CST to 3:00 PM CST at the First United Methodist Church, 107 North College Street in Franklin, KY. A memorial service will be held the same day, Saturday, August 10th at 3:00 PM CST at the church.
Barbara was born on December 23, 1939 in Sonora, KY to the late Robert Lee Knight and the late Mable Francis (Wilkerson) Knight. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Olin Foster, and a brother, David Lee Knight.
She is survived by 2 children, Brian Foster of Bowling Green, KY and Belinda Wisdom (Wayne) of Chalybeate, KY; 1 grandson, Tanner Wisdom (Elissa) of Cave City, KY; 2 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Nobra and Margaret Foster, both of Houston, TX; nieces, Katrina Kennedy (Mick), Cecilia, KY, Cindy Jones (Shane), Tracy Nobra; nephew, Danny Nobra all of the Houston, TX area. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a nephew-in-spirit survive.
Barbara was a member of Franklin First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Newcomers in Glasgow, KY, a member of The Greeters in Bowling Green, KY, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Franklin, KY. Barbara was a retired Secretary at Fort Knox Army Base, Mammoth Cave National Park, and University of Tennessee at Martin as a master of shorthand and prolific on the manual typewriter. In her younger years, she loved to square dance and go bowling on the weekends. In her later years, she loved to learn and play several different types of card games, as well as bunco with her close friends; she loved traveling, especially going on cruises with family and friends in the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Alaska. She never met a stranger, even if she was in a restroom for five minutes at a rest area, she would come back to the car to tell a stranger's life story. She had a huge heart, a tough determined spirit, and loved her family and friends dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
