Barbara Jean "Tee" (Dixon) Cummings

Mrs. Barbara Jean “Tee” (Dixon) Cummings, age 84, of Franklin, KY passed away on Sunday, July 17th, 2022 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory and will continue on Saturday, July 23rd from 6:00 AM until funeral service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23rd with burial to follow in Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson County, KY.

Barbara was born on September 22nd, 1937 in Orlinda, TN to the late Louella Birdwell Dixon and the late Jimmie J. Dixon.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vivian Mayes Cummings; a daughter, Judy Gail Cummings; brothers, Leonard “Sanford” Dixon and James Ewing Dixon; sisters, Eva Mae Dixon Hulsey and Mary Frances Dixon Ruffin.

She is survived by her children, Joe Allen Cummings (Joyce) of Franklin, KY and Jerry Dean Cummings (Paige) of Franklin, KY; 5 grandchildren, Andrea Alyson Lowhorn (Daniel), Chelsea Gail Kneedler (Justin), Caitlyn Brianna Cummings, Heather J. Scarborough (Sam) and Holly A. Snodgrass (Michael); 10 great-grandchildren, River Lowhorn, Rayne Lowhorn, Ravyn Lowhorn, Chloe Moore, Caylee Moore, Kylo Kneedler, Ella Scarborough, Eli Scarborough, Degan Snodgrass and Bristol Snodgrass; sisters in-law, Nancy Dixon and Sarah Cumming; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a member of Tyree Chapel Church of Christ and lived here in Simpson County for over 60 years. She went to work for Lenk Co. in 1971 and retired from the then, Drackett Company in 1993. In addition to her public work, Barbara was always busy on the farm with Vivian. Barbara loved nothing more than spending time with her family and cooking meals for her family.  She enjoyed square dancing, buck dancing and line dancing and was a fan of bluegrass music.  Barbara was always ready to go fishing when anyone would take her with her favorite spot being the ponds located on the family farm.
